How to use CGPA, Percentage & Merit Calculator

  1. 1Open “Grading scale” and change the grades and points to match your university or board.
  2. 2In GPA & CGPA, add each course with its credit hours and grade. Add your previous CGPA and credit hours to get a new CGPA.
  3. 3Use Percentage to add up marks across subjects.
  4. 4Use Weighted merit to combine results with the weights your institution publishes.

Good to know

GPA is the credit-weighted average of grade points: the sum of (credit hours × grade points) divided by the total credit hours. CGPA combines earlier terms and the new one in the same way.

  • The starting grading scale is only an example. Universities and boards set their own grades and points, so edit it to match yours.
  • No university’s merit formula or CGPA-to-percentage rule is built in. Institutions publish and change these themselves; enter the components and weights they publish.
  • Results are shown to two decimal places for GPA; merit is shown to four.

For admissions or transcripts, your institution’s own calculation is the one that counts.
