How to use Image Translator
- 1Open this page in Google Chrome on a computer (the translator is built into the browser).
- 2Add a JPG, PNG or WebP image with English text, up to 20 MB.
- 3Choose the language to translate into, then click Translate.
- 4Check the English text that was read and its translation, then copy them or download the translation as a .txt file.
Good to know
The tool works in two steps. First it reads the English text in your image with the same on-device OCR (text recognition) as Image to Text (OCR). Then your browser’s built-in translator translates that text. You get the translated text, not a new copy of the image with the words replaced.
What it can and cannot do
- The text in the image must be English. Text in other languages is not read correctly.
- It translates into 38 languages, including Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Spanish, French, Chinese and Turkish. Urdu is not offered, because the browser’s translator does not support it.
- Printed text in a clear, sharp image works best. Handwriting, stylised fonts, text on busy backgrounds and very small text are often misread, and a misread word is translated wrongly.
- Machine translation can miss meaning, names and tone. Check anything important with a person who knows both languages.
- Layout is not kept: the result is plain text, in paragraphs.
Which browsers work
The translator is part of the browser. It was tested in Google Chrome 154 on a computer. Other browsers, and Chrome on phones, may not include it yet; the tool tells you if yours does not, and you can still read the English text with Image to Text (OCR). The first time you translate into a language, the browser downloads that language pack, which can take a minute; later translations into it are quick.
Where your image goes
ToolSolvo does not upload your image or its text. The text is read on your device, and the browser’s built-in translator is given only the text. The language pack the browser downloads comes from the browser’s maker; ToolSolvo has no part in that download.
