Counted as assets

  • Cash, bank balances and savings
  • Gold and silver at current value
  • Goods held for sale, at current sale value
  • Money owed to you that you expect to receive
  • Shares, funds and other investments you enter

Not counted

  • Your home, car, furniture and other personal-use items
  • Business equipment and property used for work, not for sale

Views differ on jewellery in regular use, retirement funds, long-term debts and how investments are valued. This calculator does the arithmetic only. It is not a religious ruling, so please follow a scholar you trust. Zakat deducted at source by a bank also counts towards what you owe.
